Y4CA participants plant avocado trees in Jabungan, Semarang

As a follow-up to the series of Youth for Climate Action (Y4CA) Batch 2 programs, the Indonesian Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) collaborated with LindungiHutan to carry out planting activities of 800 avocado trees on 20 August 2025 in Jabungan Village, Banyumanik District, Semarang City.

With the theme “Empowering Youth, Greening the Future”, Y4CA Batch 2 not only provides a space for dialogue and education, but also invites the younger generation and various stakeholders to take real action to mitigate climate change. This tree planting is a symbol of the contribution of program participants and partners in building environmental awareness and realizing joint sustainability actions.

In this activity, it was recorded that 800 avocado trees were planted with a total estimated carbon uptake of 6 kg CO₂e (at planting age). Avocado trees were chosen because they have ecological and economic benefits: they help absorb carbon, maintain soil stability to prevent landslides, as well as provide added economic value to the community through fruit harvests.

Apart from the ecological benefits, this activity also has a real socio-economic impact on society. It was recorded that there would be an increase in farmers’ income of up to 23%, the creation of new jobs, as well as environmental benefits felt indirectly by around 142,303 residents around the Jabungan area.

Through this action, YIIM proves through the Y4CA program, that the involvement of the younger generation and cross-sector collaboration can create sustainability solutions that are sustainable and have a broad impact.

The Y4CA Batch 2 tree planting action also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular:

YIIM will continue to encourage collaboration with various parties, the private sector, communities and the younger generation to expand environmental, social and economic impacts through empowerment and sustainability programs.

Salam Inspirasi!
