On August 5 2025 via Zoom Cloud Meeting, the Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) and Insight Investment Management collaborated with Sahabat Danurdara, Bassar Community and Protect the Forest to successfully organize the online talk show Youth for Climate Action (Y4CA) Batch 2, as part of a series of environmental campaigns connecting the young generation, communities and the private sector. With the theme “Empowering Youth, Greening the Future”, this event opens up space for dialogue, education and collaboration to build real action to face the climate crisis.
Y4CA is a collaborative program that aims to provide space for young people’s participation in climate change issues through educational, creative and participatory approaches. After being successfully held in the first batch, Y4CA Batch 2 comes with new formats such as digital content competitions, online campaigns, symbolic tree planting actions, and online interactive discussions.
This talk show began with remarks from YIIM representatives, who emphasized the importance of the involvement of the younger generation in maintaining environmental sustainability. Azhar, as Treasurer of the YIIM Management, said that climate change mitigation cannot occur without the active role of the younger generation.
“We believe that climate change mitigation cannot occur without the involvement of young people. Through Y4CA, we want to open a space for learning, networking and acting together for a greener future,” he said in his opening remarks.
This talk show was attended by 32 participants from various backgrounds, who actively took part in the discussion and question and answer sessions. The enthusiasm of the participants shows the increasing awareness of young people towards environmental issues and their enthusiasm to take part.
The discussion session presented three speakers who brought perspectives from various sectors. Isnaeni, a representative from PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT), shared her views on the importance of the private sector supporting environmental movements led by the younger generation. He highlighted that continued collaboration between companies and youth can create a broader and more sustainable environmental impact.
Miftachur Robani, CEO of Protect Forest, emphasized the urgency of ecosystem restoration as a response to the climate crisis. In his presentation, he said that youth have great potential in driving conservation action through organized local initiatives, including tree planting and preserving forest areas.
Meanwhile, from the perspective of young people who have experience running environmental programs, Nikita Shaqilla emphasized that concern for the environment can start from anywhere, including through personal experience and digital activities. According to him, young people do not have to be experts or activists to have an impact, just awareness, a willingness to learn, and simple actions such as spreading correct information or adopting a sustainable lifestyle. He also highlighted the importance of space and support so that young people’s enthusiasm can grow and make a real contribution.
As a form of involvement with the Y4CA Batch 2 program, talk show participants were also given tree planting certificates as a form of real contribution to the Y4CA greening campaign in Jabungan, Semarang. Even though they do not directly plant, they contribute to reforestation efforts which will be reported and documented in Y4CA’s Youth Climate Newsletter Batch 2 publication.
This talk show is part of YIIM’s commitment to expanding the space for collaboration between youth, the private sector and communities in creating a more sustainable future.
Salam Inspirasi!
