Triyana Sari (54), a resident of Jakasetia, Bekasi, born in Tegal, tells of her life journey as a housewife who was persistent in fighting for her family’s economic security. Since her husband experienced layoffs (PHK) in 2018, the family’s economic burden has become increasingly felt at his age and his husband has entered his fifth year. Even though her three children have completed their education and are helping to meet their daily needs, Triyana is determined to be financially independent.
Finding Turning Points Through Vocational Training
As a member of the weekly study of the Mosque Taklim Council Coordinating Board (BKMM), the door of opportunity opened when Triyana received information about the frozen food processing culinary training program organized by the Indonesian Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM). For him, this opportunity is not just to fill his time, but a valuable space to gain new knowledge and broaden his practical horizons.
“The frozen food cooking training that I participated in was a very useful space to share insights. One of the most memorable sessions was when I learned the techniques for preparing chicken egg rolls and their attractive presentation,” said Triyana, reminiscing about her training period.
Independent Practice and Pioneering Market Opportunities
After completing the training, Triyana immediately put the skills she had acquired into practice. This confidence bore sweet fruit when he was trusted to provide 100 portions of dimsum for consumption at a relative’s wedding. The positive response from the first order sparked his enthusiasm to receive subsequent catering orders.
His business opportunities grew further when he was entrusted with providing 100 portions of light snack packages on the collaborative Financial Literacy Training agenda of YIIM, PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT), and BKMM. From this order, with an estimated capital of IDR 15,000 per portion, he successfully recorded a net profit of IDR 1,000,000.
Optimism in Facing Business Challenges
Even though her entrepreneurial steps are increasingly open, Triyana does not deny the challenges of supporting facilities, especially the capacity of refrigerators for storing large volumes of raw materials. However, these limitations have not dampened his commitment to continue learning and finalizing plans for the future development of his home culinary business.
Salam Inspirasi!
